Privacy.

equip.tf is a fan-made Team Fortress 2 loadout viewer. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies. This page lists everything it does handle.

Visiting the site

The site and the game files are hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details so it can deliver the pages and block attacks, and it may set a short-lived security cookie when it checks for bots. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Steam import

This only happens if you paste a Steam profile or an inspect link into Load a Steam loadout or skin.

• The profile goes to equip.tf's server, which asks the Steam Web API for that profile's public name and the TF2 items it has equipped, or, for an inspect link, that one item from its backpack. It only works when the backpack is public. equip.tf never asks for your Steam login or password.
• Steam's answer is kept for 5 minutes in the Cloudflare data centre that handled the request, so loading the same profile again doesn't ask Steam twice. After that it's gone. Nothing from Steam is saved anywhere else.
• To stop abuse, each visitor gets a limited number of imports. To count them, the server stores a scrambled one-way code made from your IP address (never the address itself) next to the number of imports. These counts are deleted after two days.

Link previews

When you press Copy link, equip.tf makes a small picture of your loadout and stores it on its server, so the link shows that picture when you paste it in Discord, Steam chat and other apps. The picture only shows the loadout. It's kept with the link's loadout code and nothing about you. To stop abuse, the same scrambled IP counting as Steam imports limits how many pictures one visitor can store, and those counts are deleted after two days.

In your browser

Your settings (bloom, taunt sound, the Scene background, shadow and FOV, whether the item list is folded) and a background picture you choose are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device, and clearing this site's data removes them. Share links, pictures and GIFs contain only the loadout you made.

Contact

Questions, bug reports, or something you want removed: [email protected], or the equip.tf Discord. If you email, your address and message are only used to reply. Email is delivered through Cloudflare and Gmail.
